Vibram Five Fingers Shoes: The Barefoot Alternative

Got a call from a friend who happens to read my query on US Vibram Website (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/) last week. I was told that he has become the sole importer for such shoes and would like me to give it a try again after knowing that I bought such a pair sometimes back (at least 6 months ago) but I did not wear it because the sizing is wrong and it causes blister to my feet.

I have decided to get the KSO.  It was delivered to me on 1 Oct, thanks Choon Chiat!.  I will give this shoe another try because as I have been training barefoot for the past 10 months and I can hardly break through the 21km barrier because whenever I do long distance runs barefooted, my feet will start to sore and get heated up when I reach about 17km and it make running barefooted very punishing going above 17km and eventually I will normally stop my long runs at 21km.  I am hoping that the KSO will allow me to train longer distances (maybe up to 35km).

I am still considering whether to run this year end SCSM09 barefooted or with a racer shoe and now I have another choice, that is with Vibram FiveFingers KSO.

I will feedback the performance of this shoe when I recover from my calf strain injury.  In the mean time, I think I will just do some aerobic exercise with swimming and cycling until my calf strain injury has recovered.

I shall not say too much about the benefits of running barefoot as this is very dependent on individual, but too me, I will continue to do barefoot running.

There are many blog on this shoe and here are some of them

Hi BFP

Looking forward to your feedback on the KSO's as I might consider them if I do try the M. Kinabalu climbathon some day.

You had your interval training the day after a hectic session at the office and might not be well rested. Got to take care of yourself, bro.

Yup, I will post more on my experience with this new toy.

If you are interested to buy, I can help you. Just send me an email to pua.lip.seng@animiles.com

I think I will take a break for 1 week before I start my marathon training again and I guess I will have to re-adjust my aim to just finish the marathon barefooted in 4:30 to 4:00 hrs. If can still do it at sub 4 I will be most delighted.

:-)
