My New Shoe (A Taruhumara Huarache)

My new shoe which is
1. Almost zero weight.
2. cost me SGD$ 0
3. and made from recycled items (Go Green).

This is the back of the soles of a spoilt shoe from my coworker. Top of the sole.  I have even it flat.
After the string are attached to the sole.  I made the string myself using 3 strands of thinner string. Look like a lady open top shoe.
Back of the sole.  I tied a knot using a method I learnt from the web.  Will post the picture when I am free.

Will do a short test run tomorrow morning.  --- Did not have the chance to go for the run, will update as soon as I can do a run with it.

Did a 8.4km easy run with my new huarache this morning (19 Jan 2010) at 4:30am with a time of 43:43.77 (5:12min/km).  The feeling while running with it was the same as when I was barefooted just that I was more protected on my soles.  Initially after about 1.5km, my feet feel tight so I stopped to loosen the thightness and continued easily for the rest of the run.

There was no blister or redness on my feet as I wore toe socks to prevent them.  I will contniue to get use to my new huarache until I can do my MR25 cross country marathon on 13 Jun 2010.

Nice. But you have a funny way of tying the huraches-not really traditional. Where did you get the style?

Sure! we shall go to the MacRitchie for a huarache run, but this Saturday cannot because I need to paint some doors in my house in preparation for CNY.
